The archaeological professional practice in Argentina: a state of affairs

Abstract

This Opinion Essay reports the development of the Roundtable on Professional Practice that was held within the framework of the I Jornadas de Arqueología del Noroeste Argentino (IJAN, Tilcara, 2022). A pressing issue in our discipline such as archaeological impact studies was discussed. The results of an anonymous survey are presented. It provides a first national profile of the existing situation regarding the development of the professional practice that is carried out both inside and outside the academy. The comments and reflections of researchers, teachers, fellows and officials on this subject are also presented, plus some closing notes and personal reflections.
